About Bob Dailey

About

Bob Dailey

I love mulch. It hides a multitude of sins in my garden. I also love compost. It helps absolve me from those sins.

I have been gardening since I was a child. When I was about 10, hoeing weeds in my father’s extensive garden, I looked up at my father and said, “when I grow up, I’ll never set foot in a garden again.” And my dad said, “Never say never, son.” And he was right.

As an adult, I always grew a garden. I didn’t know about growing plants organically then, and I proceeded to do my part in poisoning the planet. Gradually it came to me that there must be something better than applying poisons to my vegetables, daylilies, irises and everything else. And there was.

Once I discovered how organic gardening increases yields, produces more beautiful flowers and healthier plants, and doesn’t harm butterflies, bees, bats, birds, and, of course, ourselves.

I Became A Convert

I studied soil science, composting, alternate means of handling pesky insects, and other new scientific discoveries. I experimented with different varieties of vegetables. I became a master gardener to widen my experience and knowledge. I wanted my children and all future children to be able to have healthy, poison-free food and to continue enjoying beautiful butterflies, bees, and other insects beneficial to our gardens.

I hope these blogs and articles can help you have a beautiful, healthy and bountiful garden.
